New build homes in Cumbria

Bordering Scotland and set along England’s stunning northwest coast, Cumbria is one of the country’s most beautiful and desirable places to live. For many people, moving here means trading busy streets for stunning views and quieter routines.

At Lancet Homes, we are proud to offer a range of new homes in Cumbria that provide the reassurance of modern design, lower energy use and practical layouts, leaving more time to enjoy the outdoors and slower days close to home.

Where can I enjoy stunning views in Cumbria?

Living in Cumbria gives you easy access to everything from scenic trails to peaceful spots for looking up at the stars, and our new properties for sale in Cumbria are ideal for those who love adventure, relaxation, or a little bit of both.

Famous for its mix of mountains, coastlines and open landscapes, it’s no surprise that this region is home to some of England’s most famous natural wonders. The Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is popular with nature lovers. Here you can explore the beauty of Lake Windermere, take on a hiking challenge at Scafell Pike, or simply enjoy the views right on your doorstep.

Beyond the Lake District, Morecambe Bay provides beautiful coastal views. As the UK’s largest tidal bay, this landscape of salt marshes and limestone cliffs offers a wonderful view across the water of the Lakeland fells. Here you can enjoy birdwatching species like Oystercatchers, Curlews and Redshanks, go on peaceful walks along the marshes and capture beautiful sunsets across the water.

Things to do in Cumbria

Outdoor lovers and adventure seekers will find plenty of things to do in Cumbria. History lovers can explore iconic landmarks like the famous 73-mile-long Hadrian’s Wall or wander through the medieval halls of Carlisle Castle.

Those with a sense of adventure can try kayaking, paddleboarding, or hiking through dramatic landscapes. And families will find plenty to do at places like the Lake District Wildlife Park or the Rheged Centre, where you can enjoy an afternoon of food, cinema trips or shopping.

If you prefer a slower pace, market towns such as Ambleside, Kendal and Keswick offer relaxed days out with a range of local shops, pubs and regular food markets, making them easy places to spend an afternoon browsing, eating and unwinding.

How easy is it to get around Cumbria?

Although a rural county, getting around Cumbria is easy. The M6 runs through the county with junctions at Kendal, Penrith and Carlisle, providing direct road links to destinations across the North West and further afield.

For those who prefer to travel by train, Carlisle railway station runs direct services to London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Leeds. The Settle-Carlisle Railway line is also a popular choice with locals, known for its open countryside views as it travels through the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines.
